The Bible Society in Italy

The Bible Society in Italy was legally established in 1983 to promote the spread of the Bible throughout the world, distributing interdenominational material and gathering the funds necessary for that purpose. It is an independent Christian association, not tied to any religious confession, a non profit organization, with the aim of giving the maximum distribution of the Sacred Scriptures through the promotion of activities aimed at accomplishing this goal. Membership to the Bible Society in Italy is open to all those who share its goals. The Society is administered by a council elected by its members, in which, by its statutes, all Christian confessions can be represented.

The SBI is part of the Universal Bible Alliance (ABU) – United Bible Societies (UBS), an international organization founded in 1946, that unites and coordinates the work of about 150 Bible Societies.

Until 2018 the SBI supported the work of the British and Foreign Bible Society (SBBF). From the time of the closing of the SBBF, the SBI, its spiritual heir, made itself ready to realize in autonomy its statutory goals.

At the present time the Administative Council of the SBI is made up of:

President: Eric Noffke

Vice President: Luca Mazzinghi

Treasurer: Giovanni Sbaffi

Secretary: Mauizio Rolli

Member: Paolo Camilletti, Maurizio Caracciolo, Rosita Celenta, Paolo Merlo, Luca Negro, Alessandra Pecchioli, Giancarlo Rinaldi, Marco Zappella.
